The Oh Boy Origin Story
The story of Oh Boy begins with a bit of spontaneity and a lot of heart. In May 2023, I was on my way to Disneyland when I came across a post from Colby Avenue Tattoo looking for a new artist. Everett wasn’t part of my plan, but something about that day (or maybe the Disney magic) made me comment and add a stop to my trip.
That’s where I met Sarina Bobina.
One of the first things she said to me was, “We’re best friends now.” At first, it caught me off guard, but the more I got to know her, the more it just made sense. Sarina has a way of putting herself out there—flighty, blunt, and unfiltered—but underneath it all, she’s one of the most loyal and soft-hearted people I’ve ever met.
The Dynamic Duo
Sarina and I quickly became more than just coworkers, we became partners in creativity. When I was struggling with anemia, she showed up for me in ways I didn’t expect. Taking me to the ER when I needed help and saving my dog from a nutjob while I was out of the country, proved that she wasn’t just someone I worked with. She was family.
Artistically, we’ve always encouraged each other. Sarina isn’t afraid to experiment with styles, and we both wanted more freedom to create without the constraints of traditional walk-in shop culture. The idea of opening a shop together started as something we’d casually talk about, but over time, it grew into a shared vision: a space where creativity could thrive, and clients could experience something truly special.
Why Oh Boy?
Oh Boy is more than a name—it’s a mindset. It’s about embracing spontaneity, creativity, and a little bit of nostalgia. It’s a name I’ve had in mind for years, and when the timing felt right, I pitched it to Sarina. She loved it, and together, we knew it perfectly captured the energy of what we wanted to create.
The space itself is designed to be welcoming and thoughtful, with a vibe that feels like your best friend’s living room crossed with a classy loft. It’s warm, vintage, and uncluttered—a far cry from the cramped spaces most people associate with tattoo shops. At Oh Boy, the focus is on personal attention, creative freedom, and making sure every client feels like they’re part of the process.
Why Now?
For artists, there comes a point when you’ve outgrown the space you’re in, and it’s time to take the leap. Oh Boy is that leap for us. After years of working in traditional shop environments, we wanted to create something that felt like an extension of who we are as artists. This is our chance to redefine what a tattoo experience can be: thoughtful, collaborative, and uniquely personal.
Everett is on the rise, and there’s an exciting energy here that’s hard to ignore. Oh Boy isn’t just a shop—it’s something fresh and unique that the community hasn’t seen before.
We’re ready to bring this vision to life, and we can’t wait for you to be a part of it.
Our Philosophy
Oh Boy was built on the belief that tattooing is more than just needles and a machine — it’s about creating something meaningful in a space that feels just as special. Here, art thrives, stories are shared, and connections are made. Our goal is simple: to craft tattoos that last a lifetime in a space you’ll want to return to, time and time again.
